Chapter 5

From Adam to Noah, Death Awaits Life

Enoch, taken up without dying, foreshadows the resurrection hope Yeshua brings — walking with Elohim leads to life beyond death.

  1. The Generations from Adam to Noah

    A genealogy of death — 'and he died' echoes through every entry. But hidden in the names is a message of hope pointing to the One who conquers death.

  2. 1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that Elohim created man, he made him in Elohim’s likeness.
  3. 2He created them male and female, and blessed them. On the day they were created, he named them Adam.
  4. 3Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
  5. 4The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
  6. 5All the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, then he died.
  7. 6Seth lived one hundred and five years, then became the father of Enosh.
  8. 7Seth lived after he became the father of Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
  9. 8All of the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, then he died.
  10. 9Enosh lived ninety years, and became the father of Kenan.
  11. 10Enosh lived after he became the father of Kenan eight hundred and fifteen years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
  12. 11All of the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, then he died.
  13. 12Kenan lived seventy years, then became the father of Mahalalel.
  14. 13Kenan lived after he became the father of Mahalalel eight hundred and forty years, and became the father of other sons and daughters
  15. 14and all of the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years, then he died.
  16. 15Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, then became the father of Jared.
  17. 16Mahalalel lived after he became the father of Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
  18. 17All of the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, then he died.
  19. 18Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, then became the father of Enoch.
  20. 19Jared lived after he became the father of Enoch eight hundred years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
  21. 20All of the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, then he died.
  22. Enoch Walks with Elohim

  23. 21Enoch lived sixty-five years, then became the father of Methuselah.
  24. 22After Methuselah’s birth, Enoch walked with Elohim for three hundred years, and became the father of more sons and daughters.
  25. 23All the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
  26. 24Enoch walked with Elohim, and he was not found, for Elohim took him.Fulfilled · Ivrim 11:5
  27. 25Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, then became the father of Lamech.
  28. 26Methuselah lived after he became the father of Lamech seven hundred and eighty-two years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
  29. 27All the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, then he died.
  30. 28Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, then became the father of a son.
  31. 29He named him Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, caused by the ground which YHWH has cursed.”
  32. 30Lamech lived after he became the father of Noah five hundred and ninety-five years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
  33. 31All the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, then he died.
  34. 32Noah was five hundred years old, then Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
