Chapter 118

The Stone the Builders Rejected Is Cornerstone

The stone rejected by the builders becoming the cornerstone — the day Adonai has made — is quoted by Yeshua Himself as fulfilled in His own rejection and vindication.

  1. His Lovingkindness Endures Forever

    His lovingkindness endures forever. This psalm was sung at Pesach — Yeshua sang it the night He was betrayed.

  2. 1Give thanks to YHWH, for he is good, for his chesed endures forever.
  3. 2Let Israel now say that his chesed endures forever.
  4. 3Let the house of Aaron now say that his chesed endures forever.
  5. 4Now let those who fear YHWH say that his chesed endures forever.
  6. 5Out of my distress, I called on YHWH. YHWH answered me with freedom.
  7. 6YHWH is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
  8. 7YHWH is on my side amongst those who help me. Therefore I will look in triumph at those who hate me.
  9. 8It is better to take refuge in YHWH, than to put confidence in man.
  10. 9It is better to take refuge in YHWH, than to put confidence in princes.
  11. 10All the nations surrounded me, but in YHWH’s name I cut them off.
  12. 11They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In YHWH’s name I indeed cut them off.
  13. 12They surrounded me like bees. They are quenched like the burning thorns. In YHWH’s name I cut them off.
  14. 13You pushed me back hard, to make me fall, but YHWH helped me.
  15. 14YHWH is my strength and song. He has become my salvation.
  16. 15The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. “The right hand of YHWH does valiantly.
  17. 16The right hand of YHWH is exalted! The right hand of YHWH does valiantly!”
  18. 17I will not die, but live, and declare YHWH’s works.
  19. 18YHWH has punished me severely, but he has not given me over to death.
  20. Open the Gates of Righteousness

    Open the gates of righteousness — the righteous shall enter through them. Yeshua is that gate.

  21. 19Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them. I will give thanks to YHWH.
  22. 20This is the gate of YHWH; the righteous will enter into it.
  23. 21I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.

    The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. Yeshua applied this directly to Himself.

  30. 27YHWH is Elohim, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.
  31. 28You are my Elohim, and I will give thanks to you. You are my Elohim, I will exalt you.
  32. 29Oh give thanks to YHWH, for he is good, for his chesed endures forever.
