Chapter 120

A Cry From the Depths, Heard by Elohim

The distress of living among those who hate peace mirrors Yeshua's life among those who rejected Him — the Prince of Peace surrounded by those who loved war.

  1. A Song of Ascents — Deliver Me

The Songs of Ascents begin — prayers sung by pilgrims walking up to Jerusalem. The journey starts with a cry.

  2. 1In my distress, I cried to YHWH. He answered me.
  3. 2Deliver my soul, YHWH, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
  4. 3What will be given to you, and what will be done more to you, you deceitful tongue?
  5. 4Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
  6. 5Woe is me, that I live in Meshech, that I dwell amongst the tents of Kedar!
  7. 6My soul has had her dwelling too long with him who hates peace.
  8. 7I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.
