If Adonai Had Not Been on Our Side

Had Adonai not been on their side — the waters would have overwhelmed them — is the song of every believer who sees that Yeshua's intervention was their only salvation.

    If Adonai had not been on our side — David leaves that sentence unfinished to let gratitude fill the space.

  2. 1If it had not been YHWH who was on our side, let Israel now say,
  3. 2if it had not been YHWH who was on our side, when men rose up against us,
  4. 3then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us,
  5. 4then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul.
  6. 5Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.
  7. 6Blessed be YHWH, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.
  8. 7Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare. The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
  9. 8Our help is in YHWH’s name, who made heaven and earth.
