Chapter 25

Show Me Your Ways, YHWH

David's plea for guidance in the paths of truth points to Yeshua, who declared 'I am the way, the truth, and the life' — the ultimate guide for every pilgrim.

  1. Teach Me Your Paths

    David lifts his soul to Elohim, asking for guidance and forgiveness. Humility is the posture of a learner.

  2. 1To you, YHWH, I lift up my soul.
  3. 2My Elohim, I have trusted in you. Don’t let me be shamed. Don’t let my enemies triumph over me.
  4. 3Yes, no one who waits for you will be shamed. They will be shamed who deal treacherously without cause.
  5. 4Show me your ways, YHWH. Teach me your paths.
  6. 5Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the Elohim of my salvation. I wait for you all day long.
  7. 6YHWH, remember your tender mercies and your chesed, for they are from old times.
  8. 7Don’t remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. Remember me according to your chesed, for your goodness’ sake, YHWH.
  9. 8Good and upright is YHWH, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way.
  10. 9He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way.
  11. 10All the paths of YHWH are chesed and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
  12. 11For your name’s sake, YHWH, pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
  13. 12What man is he who fears YHWH? He shall instruct him in the way that he shall choose.
  14. 13His soul will dwell at ease. His offspring will inherit the land.
  15. 14The friendship of YHWH is with those who fear him. He will show them his covenant.
  16. 15My eyes are ever on YHWH, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
  17. 16Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted.
  18. 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Oh bring me out of my distresses.
  19. 18Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins.
  20. 19Consider my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with cruel hatred.
  21. 20Oh keep my soul, and deliver me. Let me not be disappointed, for I take refuge in you.
  22. 21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.
  23. 22Elohim, redeem Israel out of all his troubles.
